Capital of the nation of Rohan, fortified citadel of Edoras was built over a green hill overlooking the plains. Most prominent of all Edoras' structures was the Meduseld, the Golden Hall of King Theoden, where the King of Rohirrim held court. A large hall, the Meduseld gleamed golden in the sunlight and could be seen from miles around. Edoras was built with its back to the foothills of the White Mountains, but while a walled city, it could not survive seige by a large force indefinitely.
